Lent is the season in the Church year of reflection and contemplation on Jesus' passion and our need for His forgiveness and saving from our sins.
Starting Feb. 20th, we meet on Wednesdays at 6pm for a meal together before we spend time in worship at 7pm.
This first Wednesday, February 20th, is a special day called Ash Wednesday. Throughout the history of God's people, one way that Christians show sorrow for their sins and the action of turning away from them is to cover themselves with ashes. In this service, we do not cover ourselves, but outwardly place ashes on our foreheads as a symbol of the recognition of our sinful condition.
This year we are taking a walk through the Gospel of Matthew and learning about Jesus bringing in the Kingdom of God and what that means for us.
Also, within this season are special days that lead up to Easter Sunday. We focus on Jesus' humble but Kingly entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (March 24th), Jesus' last meal with His disciples on Maundy Thursday (March 28th), and Jesus' death on the cross on Good Friday (March 29th). Each service has special meaning for Christians and focuses on the sacrifice that Jesus made on our part.
Celebrate Easter with us on March 31st
